According to a recent study, almost everyone will think of the number 7 any time they are asked to think of a number between 1 and 10. The same number pops into our minds when asked to think of our favourite number. It seems that number 7 highly favoured over other numbers. But why is it so popular?

According to scientists and mathematicians, this number has some really appealing properties that make it quite special.  Many individuals find this number to be really attractive due to a number of reasons. To start with, the number 7 is an odd number. And odd numbers cannot be easily divided into 2, which makes them seem more unique than even numbers. It is also a prime number, which means that it can only be divided by itself. People tend to be more interested in this number as it is the largest prime number closest to number 10.

Furthermore, 7 is considered to be a lucky number in various cultures from all corners of the world. In many cultures around the world, number 7 has been associated with many positive events; especially for important historic events. In fact this number keeps turning up!

Religion is an important part of many people's lives and the number 7 pops up quite frequently there. In fact, the significance of this number in the Bible is highlighted by the biblical scholars. Any Christian would be able to tell you that God made the world in six days, and rested on the seventh day. The Bible also includes some paragraphs where this number is used to express perfection and completeness.

You will also read about the 7 heavens in Judaism. This is also mentioned in the Koran, which is the holy book of Islam. The number 7 also pops up in Chinese culture - the combination between Yin and Yang and the Five Elements: water, fire, earth, wood, and metal. In Confucianism, the notion of harmony is also expressed through this combination.
